Miss Asia USA Fashion Show
had just officially launched on Sunday, May 18th, 2008 at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in the Emerald Room, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, California. To open the Miss Asia 2008 Pageant, Virgelia Productions held a fashion show to unveil over 30 final delegates for this year. The 20th anniversary of the pageant celebrates culture, beauty, elegance, and talents of young Asian Women in America. Paulina Douangpanya, Miss Laos 2008, was discovered by Virgelia Productions when she entered Miss Songkran Pageant in Los Angeles, California. This is a special year for Paulina and the Miss Asia USA Pageant organization. Paulina will be the first delegate to represent Laos, in over 20 year history of the Miss Asia USA Cultural Pageant. Not only did the delegates modeled fashions from several famous designers, such as Sherri Hill, Scala, American Apparel, and Malibu Dream Girl Swimwear, the delegates also showed off their cultural outfits for the country they are representing. Hair and make-up were provided by James Albert Salon and So Hot Studios. The fashion show extravaganza was a charity event to help benefit Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer). It was the first official public appearance for all the delegates.
During the past month, the Delegates have had a busy social schedule. They have graced several prestigious black tie gala fundraising dinners such as: Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity, Mr. Asia USA 2008, Friends of South East Asian American Communities, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Indo-American Advisory Council Awards Gala, Miss Songkran, Armenian Jewelers Association, Asian Enterprise Magazine Awards Gala, and numerous networking mixers. This year’s show is choreographed by renowned Evelyn Lin, who directed and choreographed the Miss Asia USA 2008 and Miss Teen Asia USA 2008. The Pageant will be held on Saturday, June 21st at the Alex Theatre in Glendale California. Come out and support Paulina Douangpanya representing Laos for the first time in 20 years.
